  • The Museum of Scottish Lighthouses opened in June 1995 when the automation of Scottish Lighthouses was in its final phase.

Housing a nationally recognised collection of Lighthouse artefacts, the Museum tells the story of the Northern Lighthouse Board, its lighthouses, engineers and keepers.

The museum also offers tours of Kinnaird Head Lighthouse - a light which escaped automation and preserved in time as a manned light. Climb to the top of Kinnaird Head Lighthouse to enjoy the views from the top.

The Museum is open 7 days a week, 10am-5pm. Lighthouse tours run daily at 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.

Our cafe also opens daily 10am-4pm (food will not be served after 3pm).
